Back to Work!

Dear Friends & Family.

Our new adventures will soon be starting. Sister Hawk and I have been to the ranch to check things out in the high country. All is well at Deseret Land & Livestock. We will be leaving Delta, Friday Morning April 24. Our plan is to go directly to DL&L and setup our camp there. The snow is about 1/3 of last year so we will have no trouble getting into the ranch. The three new couples will be reporting on April 27 & 28. We will then start the training and get things ready for trekking.

Our summer address is:
Elder & Sister Hawk
P.O. Box 250
Woodruff, Utah 84086

We had a meeting with Elder & Sister Bretzing in SLC on Tuesday. (Our Leaders) We went out to eat with them at the Joseph Smith Building. That was very enjoyable. The weather was bad, but then it has been the whole time we have been back in Utah. I think Arizona is my favorite place in winter and spring.

Our plan is to send E- Mail reports every week or two, so all of you can keep up on our missionary service. I plan to send pictures and what ever I find interesting. I hope this message finds all well and happy.

Sister Hawk and I find much joy in serving at DL&L. We have this saying on the wall at the ranch:
FILL YOUR MIND WITH TRUTH
FILL YOUR HEART WITH LOVE
FILL YOUR TIME WITH SERVICE

This is just something I have hanging on my office wall
An Irish Friendship wish!
May there always be work for your hands to do;
May your pocket always hold a coin or two;
May the sun always shine on your windowpane;
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain;
May a hand of a friend always be near you;
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

May God Bless All

Mission Call - September 17, 2008

Sister Hawk and I received an Missionary extension today, for another year at Deseret Land & Livestock. We are nowPioneer Trek Coordinators at Deseret Land & Livestock. We will spend the winter coordinating Trek activities and return to DLL around April 1, 2009. We feel very honored to be able to help in this great work. My feelingsare that if the Stake & Ward leaders get the kids to DLL the Lord will take care of the rest. What a blessing it is tobe able to serve in this work.

Oh, Yes we will still go to Arizona for the winter. We have a Ranch cell phone and computer so we will still be connected.

God Bless all

Deseret Land & Livestock - August 25, 2008

This will be our last report from DLL. We will finish up today and head home in the morning. This has been a wonderful Mission. We have enjoyed every day here. Sister Hawk and I will be coming back for the 2009 Trek season here at DLL. It has been good to see the 7000 young people that have come to Trek with us here. I enclose a few pictures. These people have become good friends and we will miss them in the days ahead. I hope you have enjoyed our E/ Mail and Blog.

DL&L - August 3, 2008

Yes, another week has come and gone. We rebuilt 15 Handcarts the last two week, along with our Trek duties. The weather has been hot the last couple of weeks. In the high 80's to low 90's in the day, but low 40's at night. Air Conditioning in the day, heater at night. The country has dried out and things are much browner now than just a month ago. We have 5 treks left, one this coming week and then 4 the week on the 13th. Both Sister Hawk and I are a little bit 'trunky'. First because we have lived in our 28 foot 5th Wheel trailer for the last 9 months, and second because our mission for this year is winding down. We have our seminar for 2009 on August 23, and after that we will have about one day's work and that will be it until next year. We will be home to Delta around August 27 or 28. It will be sad to say goodbye to our missionary friends and the people in the Evanston 6th Ward where we have attended church for the last three months. We all know that life go's on. I have learned great faith in the youth of Zion. What a wonderful experience this mission has been. This is a good place to spend the summer, I have taken many pictures of wildlife and I have shared some of them with you. I am enclosing several more pictures, but this time of Elder Jeffery Holland and Bishop McMullin. As I said before they visited our Trek abut three weeks ago. Sister Hawk and I are in one or two of the pictures.

DL&L - July 26, 2008

Well here we are another week completed. This week we only had one Trek, so we rebuilt 9 Handcarts. We have a shop set up and by using a production line we are able to rebuild 3 handcarts each day. We have 11 more carts to do before we go home in a month. Sister Hawk and are are still enjoying our mission. We work every day except Sunday and sometimes we have P- Day on Tuesday. Our annual siminar for the 2009 treks will be held on August 23, 08. We will explain all the rules and other info. I think we will have 34 Treks next year.

All is well Here

God Bless All
