DL&L May 26, 2010

It's been a couple of weeks and I decided I better send a few things. On Monday May 24, it snowed about 8 inches again. We got up to a snow storm and it snowed until
about 11 am. I have attached pictures to prove my claim. Also, on Monday I pulled a trailer to Elberta to pick up two little trucks that we are trying out. They are 11 feet 8 inches
long. The steering wheel in on the right side. Today Wednesday, May 26, we rebuilt 5 Handcarts. We worked all day on the job, the Sisters helped us and we had a picnic at noon.

The weather here at Deseret Land & Livestock has been rainy, snowing, windy almost everyday for this entire month. We are hoping June will be better. Our Treks will start on
June 9. We have 28 Treks this year, 24 Stakes and 4 Wards. Sister Hawk and I divided all the treks up between the other four couples. Everyone has six Treks except Sister Hawk
and I we only have five.

Sister Hawk had shots in both her knees but it didn't help her. She is planning to have her left knee replaced as soon as we finish up here in late August. She is in pain most of the
time. She takes pain pills at night so she can sleep. I told her we could maybe go home after we train all the Missionaries, but she said no not until the Mission is over. I thought
she would say that.

We are training the new Missionaries on the ranch Trekking rules and the routes. All of these Missionaries have been at Martin's Cove so they understand the program. We are having
fun with this group. I am ready to turn things over to someone else after this year. This is our third year on this Mission and I think next summer I'll go fishing.

May 6, 2010

We got to DLL on April 23. The weather has been very bad, snow and rain everyday. We went to Martin's Cove for training on May 3, 4 & 5. It was enjoyable but we were glad to get back to DLL. Today we started getting the Handcarts out of the barn. We moved the Port A John's out last week. The new missionary couples are learning the routes; it takes a lot of time to learn all the different way to travel on the ranch. We have two small trucks that we need to pick up next week in Elberta and one large truck in Salt Lake City. Today we set up the shop equipment because we have five Handcarts that need rebuilt. We also have many wheels to replace.

I enclosed several pictures of the snow it snows 2 or 3 inches at a time and then melts by noon. We have only had two days with sun and it was cold even with the sun shining.
I also enclosed the pictures we took at our meeting in SLC on April 13. The people in the middle our Elder and Sister Bretzing our mission Pres. and his wife, the others are our new Missionaries. I also enclose a picture of Sister Hawk and myself.

Sister Hawk is having bad trouble with her knees. We are going to see the Doctor in Provo on Monday. We are hoping he can do something to help her. She needs knee replacement, but we need to be here to train the new Missionaries. I hope we can make it till September.

All is Well

Getting Back to Work

We will be heading for the ranch on April 23. We had a meeting in Salt Lake City with the other 4 couples that will be with us this year. We all went to The Hotel Utah for lunch with Elder & Sister Bretzing. In the meeting we went over the new Trek Handbook. It was good to meet the new Missionaries, and learn about them. Sister Hawk and I went to the ranch on Monday, April 12 to take our 4 wheeler, and there was about 10 inches of snow at our headquarters. I thought we would get stuck going in but 4 wheel drive saved us. I hope the snow will be gone by the 23rd. All is well with us.

Deseret Land & Live Stock - August 23, 2009

Family & Friends,

We are now finished with our 2009 Trekking season at DLL. We are going to South Dakota with Dusty and his family on Wednesday August 26. Then we will come back here to DLL and get our 5th Wheel on the next Saturday. WE hope to be back in Delta By Sept. 1.

This has been a hard year but all is well. We are returning again next year so that means we will be missionaries for one more year. Our seminar for 2010 was held on Saturday and everything went well. I think the other couples here are just as glad the season is over as we are. The Lord has blessed us and we are happy to have served here for two years.

God Bless you all

2009 Deseret Land & Livestock

We have finished with our Treks for 2009. Sister Hawk and I will be here again with three new couples. It is work to get everyone up to speed, but we will do it again. Our Treks went very well this year. Sister Hawk and I had 9 Treks with 2775 youth and adults. Our totals will be around 9000 for the entire year of Treks.

I have taken many pictures that I want to share but I am having trouble sending them from my computer. I will send them later.

God Bless All

Deseret Land & Livestock - August 9, 2009

Dear Family & Friends,

We have finished another week and we had a great time with our assigned Trek. This week was the Kaysville Stake. Sister Hawk is feeling greatly improved. Her knee is doing very good. We have another Trek this week, Fort Union Stake from SLC. This group will only be here one night and two days. We are looking forward to going home and rest. This has been a hard summer. I have walked so much that I can go up hills and not even breathing hard. I think I am in good shape for and old man.

WE think we should be back in Delta the first of September. Going to Rapid City with Dusty Marilyn and the boys. We will leaveour trailer here till we get back, then head for Delta. We plan on a couple of weeks of rest. Hope this will find all well.

Week #6

Family & Friends,

We have completed another week at DLL. This week Sister Hawk and I had a very good group. WE had so much fun. Salt Lake Rose Park North was a fun group of people to spend the week with. I must say they were not really good walkers but you can't have everything. This group walked about 25 miles, I walked 10 miles with them. They all thought I was so amazing with my ability to walk fast and long. I get it from my mothers side of the family. I also take Trekking seriously. I was called here to help the Trekkers and if walking is what I need to do that's what I want to do.

Sister Hawk is recovering from her knee operation and is walking better. She still can't go long distances but if we return another year she can walk with the groups next year. I guess last week I may have sounded I little down and maybe I was a little, but things are what they are. I did have some time to snap a few pictures.

Hope This finds all well
