New Shoes - January 17, 2008

Our stake Pres. called last night for our interview. He said the papers will be sent to church office very soon. We should know where we will be going in three or four weeks.

The wind blew all night last night and it was very cold. A very funny thing happened in the night, Mom said she was freezing and she got up and put on socks etc. After sometime I noticed it was cooler but the heat was running. I got up and checked, thought we could be out of gas. The air conditioner was running and it was very cold in the trailer I turned off the a/c and put the heater on. In about 5 minutes I noticed it was warmer. We don't have a clue how it happened. It was 39 degrees at 8am so it was colder than that in the night.

I did something yesterday that I haven't done in 24 years. I bought a new pair of SHOES, not boots, I also get a new black suit, two new white shirts and a belt. I have worn boots my whole life. When I was a kid Mom always got me lace up boots every new school year, until I was 15. I did have some shoes then for a couple of years. I never had shoes like new balance etc. Mom said they made your feet stink. In the navy we wore lace up boots we called boondockers. I did have dress shoe for liberty. After I got out and worked as an Electrician, boots were the order of the day. So you can see new shoe is a strange thing for me.
